In 1805 after several defeats from Napoleon's army Francis II the last Holy Roman Emperor stepped down from the Emperor's position and became just the Austrian Emperor. Over the course of a few years in the wars that Austria had with Napoleon, Austria lost a bit of land because they had to give Dalmatia to France, Venetia to Napoleon's Italy, Tyrol to Bavaria, and some other small territories to Baden and Wurttemburg, however Salzburg was annexed by Austria in return.
